AROUND THE WORLD
mr. nick's notes
This week at Sapna we took a trip around the world and we were able to learn about some interesting places. We started in our journey in India and while learning about this country our young learners performed a readers theatre! Students really enjoyed putting on a show based on the classic story Rapunzel that takes place in India. Next, we traveled to Japan where one of our mentors lead a drawing lesson on tigers. Then, we went to Russia where we engaged in discussion about languages. We wrapped up our trip around the world by making salt dough maps. Everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty to make maps of the countries that we learned about. Next week we will paint our salt dough maps.
Our curious and scientific minds lead us to make oobleck this week! One of our young learners was so excited for this offering that he shared an episode of his favorite show to guide us during the lesson. Students learned about the states of matter and were able to provide some examples of each.
Mentors have been busy this week also. They were inspired from the novel Holes to create their own inventions. Mentors expressed their creativity and original ideas to younger students by presenting and demonstrating their inventions. Mentors have also been hard at work preparing for “Greek Week” next week. They have been busy decorating our room and thinking of offerings to share with the younger learners. I am super excited for our upcoming art offering that will turn our learners into mythological Greek gods and goddesses!
